Which large contract did Optum/UHG lose in Texas to make so many Housecalls NPs lose our jobs?

@kg mine doesn’t say that. It will say that if you have less than whatever hours you’re supposed to week on any week within that time frame though
Hey full time (salaried) HC friends, is anyone else getting a notification from their provider app that availability is not entered for the period end of January to beginning of March (don’t want to give specific dates). I do not normally enter my availability. Thanks!
Anyone else?
4 days in Feb have members on them. 2 members in march
NC - full all of January, 85% full for February and a few days scheduled into March.
I wish there was a way for all of us to find each other on a better platform. I feel like the annual Summit was taken away deliberately so we can't network and talk and support each other.
@k0 PA, empty
Anyone else full or empty for February as far as schedules go?
@jr mine is mostly empty. 3 days in feb have members on them. In AZ
Let’s keep this alive. Anyone has a full February schedule? Mine still looks pretty much empty.
Medicare cuts are impacting 109 counties across 16 U.S. states.
Major health systems like Sutter Health (CA), Mass General Brigham (MA), and Lehigh Valley Health Network (PA) are ending contracts with UHC's MA plan.

@ek vendors and contractors in some areas were sidelined months ago.
@ej and the crazy part is that it will be NPs responsibility. If I do not have at least two different eGFRs for the past 3-6 months, forget about staging CKD. If member confirms CKD then it’s going to be unspecified. If there is any doubt always code down.
@ek This makes sense in light of impending layoffs of regular staff.
@e7 a friend of mine is a contractor. Her schedule is empty. She’s been told that she should hear about optums need for her by mid February.
@df Housecalls is responsible for documenting the information that makes the risk adjustment scores go up , thus allowing for increase billing to Medicare. In other words calling something CKD stage 3 when the patient has stage 2 . More money for Optum. Seen it done at Wellmed by the NP’s . That’s why the company is being investigated.
@e6 I think it’s nearly impossible to tell at this point. We don’t know the areas, whether it will be FT, PT, PRN, contractors, etc. We don’t know overall restructuring and “going forward” model. It is nerve wrecking, but we need to wait and see. Assess personal situation very carefully whether it is worth waiting it out or jump the ship if opportunity arises. This is no longer a stable job or company to work for. Period.
@ds That's what I want to know, does anyone know how many APC might be getting let go?
Yes so anyways how many APCs do we think will be getting laid off?
Yes, UnitedHealthcare (part of UnitedHealth Group) has faced, and continues to face, major investigations and lawsuits regarding allegations of "upcoding" or upgrading diagnoses to increase payments from the Medicare Advantage program.
As of late 2025 and early 2026, the company is under both federal civil and criminal investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning these billing practices.
@af HC does not get reimbursed by “upcoming” dx. They get paid by contracts and membership. You need to educate yourself before throwing disinformation
There was a west coast and an east coast meeting. Seems like the east coast had a few thousand on it, the west coast meeting had around a couple hundred. So if all of us on the meeting, or just some, are getting cut is what none of us seem to know. According to the posts on here, it sounds like the first round of layoffs is happening this coming Friday 01/23 .
@ar I see, we had the same meeting on East Coast. I thought it has already started.
UHG lost 1 million Medicare members due to cuts, so that’s a large part of it. The “budget” for housecalls is decreased due to this and therefore cutting APCs that aren’t needed anymore
@ae we had a meeting and were told we “could be” and to prepare…
They were committing fraud upcoding diagnosis to create more revenue. What contract wants to be part of their thievery to line the pockets of their shareholders. Let them burn this unethical company to the ground.
@OP Did HC layoffs start in TX?
