Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Culture nowadays

If you compare the company culture as it used to be here and the culture as it is now (if it still exists at all), those are two very different things. Everything, of course, starts from the top. How to even describe what the culture is like here nowadays? I think that those who left much earlier would not believe how far this company has moved from its former core values.

Culture, what culture?

When I first started at Oracle many years ago, there was a terrific corporate culture and I loved working at Oracle. But over time, especially after Hurd became president, the corporate culture disintegrated to what we see now.

Oracle cares nothing about its employees. It lays off people annually, even as its stock price has soared, and has done so for a long time. We all know that US citizens have taken the brunt of these layoffs, as Oracle has used immigration laws to bring in immigrants primarily from India as it sheds US citizens from its payroll. Oracle was once a great company, but no more.

The culture is fear. LE likes it that way. Fearful people can be manipulated. Politicians know this as well.

The best defense is to be bold. Do for yourself and let the little squablers chatter among themselves.
