Wells Fargo Sued by Ex-Manager Who Said Bank Faked Diversity

Wells Fargo & Co was sued by a former manager who says he was fired for pushing the bank to create a more diverse workforce and objecting to its practice of interviewing minority applicants for jobs that were already filled.

Joseph Bruno claims in the lawsuit filed Thursday he tried for years — and often failed — to persuade the bank’s executives to live up to the company’s stated diversity and inclusion goals.

He was the first person to publicly claim in 2022 that Wells Fargo had been conducting sham interviews of minority candidates. The bank did this, he said, so executives could say they were making concrete efforts to diversify its workforce.

I wouldn’t consider an $85,000,000 class action “grasping at straws”. Apparently there was something to his claims.

@cy diversity is not an issue for the lower paying jobs. I believe this may have something to do with WF announcing more diverse candidates being interviewed for roles over 100k. That info was on teamworks at one point but not sure if it is now. Not sure how that policy couldn’t be discriminatory since they are trying to meet their “goal” vs going with the a best candidate.

Joe Bruno is just a hot head that his style caught up to him and he's been grasping at straws since he was fired. Why hasn't he gotten another job in the industry since he was termed?

Yes because there are clearly a lack of minorities working throughout WF. Its almost like this person has never set foot in an actual WF office before. Probably one of the ones who cried like a baby at the thought of having to actually come in to work.
