I send out applications every few months just to keep my options open. For a while it’s been total silence, but this last round actually got replies. I’m not jumping at anything, but it’s still better than what I’ve seen all year, if not longer. If anyone’s been discouraged, maybe try again now.

@mk I applied for every job that I thought I could potentially do, across all industries, in my area of expertise. Doesn't matter which job board you use, they all have the same jobs on them. Tailored my resume using Jobright. Received no response from the vast majority, and the responses I did get were mostly for contracts. I have a network but it was useless. No one is helping anyone get jobs right now. It's a numbers game.
“ @dz I got an offer within a couple of months, so no, I am not…”
I hope it works out for you.
You say you’ve “put in over 1000 applications” . What does that mean? You’ve applied online or via LinkedIn or Indeed job postings?
In telecom? Or judging by the volume (which seems excessive) I am guessing across multiple industries?
Do you have a good personal network? It seems doubtful that you do.
@dz I got an offer within a couple of months, so no, I am not. Go ahead and see how you fare in this market.
“I was laid off mid-August, and have put in over 1000 applications”
You’re doing it wrong.
I was laid off mid-August, and have put in over 1000 applications. Had maybe 8 interviews come out of that. Just this week got an offer, and expect at least one more. It's the time of year, people are trying to get staff in place before January. The market still su-ks.
OP, are you crazy? The job market is in the sewer. Quit trying to cite false naratives.
Blindly sending out “applications” will get you nowhere, and is no way to try and land a job today.
There's plenty of work out there.
Unfortunately, it requires a wealth of experience yet demands a fraction of the cost.
“I go off payroll soon, merry christmas and f*** ATT.”
Have you finished your turnover documentation?
Holiday openings at the Walmart.
That scenario is what I have heard from people. Seems like some companies are posting jobs to build up a job bank, just in case they need someone. Been a few who have gotten something lately but per them it was due to some retirements. Good luck out there…
I applied for a few, got two interviews, went 2-3 rounds on each, and got ghosted. I go off payroll soon, merry christmas and f*** ATT.
