Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Happy Thanksgiving, seriously

Been coming on this board every now and then for a few years now. Have laughed, scowled, and even posted a few times. I’m sure there’s a core group on here doing the same thing and for all our differences and arguments, as odd as it sounds it’s a community grounded in a common disdain for the destruction of two once-great firms. I appreciate all the views and experiences expressed on here (usually with civility) and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Great post. I think regardless of which bank you came from, we can agree on a couple of things. First, most people at both of the legacy banks were very decent people. Second, the lion’s share of this merger failure was caused by a relatively small group of mega-insecure executives.

Outside ideas and perspectives were seen as threats. Instead of recognizing the massive talent attrition (from both legacy banks), they just continued to double down. I have worked for several major banks, and seen some shaky leadership in my career, but I have never experienced the almost gleeful dehumanization of employees like I have at Truist.

With that nice attitude you will never make AVP, you have to be cutthroat to get that title.
