Will Intel prosecute him for stealing TSMC files and documents as it did to its fired employees for bringing files to other companies ? Sound like Intel just attract another stealing talent. How much did Intel pay to this stealing talent ?
@kt
I agree with this statement when referring to Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Cambodia and the Philippines. In the case of China their current success has been driven by Western, European and other Asian countries setting up factories and being forced to share tech. If not for Apple, Intel and Samsung & TSMC China would still be producing 800nm wafers. There is absolutely no respect for IP.
What does "respect IP" mean? The CEO does not say that he will not steal IP. If he hires someone 75 years old, then it is apparent that he wants to steal IP.
@jc
slave labor is always more 'efficient'
and disposable too
According to Bloomberg, Tan describes the claims as rumor and speculation, stressing that the company respects intellectual property. https://www.trendforce.com/news/2025/11/21/news-intel-ceo-lip-bu-tan-denies-allegations-that-former-tsmc-exec-brought-trade-secrets-in/
This is a no-win situation for anyone.
LBT hiring WJL brings too much negative attention.
No whale of a customer will dare go with Intel for 2 nm, as they'll lose all bargaining power with TSMC.
Intel's cost will always be higher than TSMC. TSMC's operations are lower in cost, and they're more efficient.
2 nm files won't do s.h.i.t it ain't that easy
The guy from TSMC is 75 years old, could not come to ruin his reputation. Stealing technology and dishonesty is treated as the worst in Asia. He can not go back to any Asia countries anymore.
He Shoulda Taken The Package!
ELT is bringing competitors onto the exec board so that when Intel goes under, the IP doesn’t die with them/Intel.
@c3 Trump will grant him asylum for stabbing taiwan in the back.
Taiwan is doomed.
Really doubt a SVP knows any technology.
He will get into lawsuit. It is broadcasted everywhere that Intel is stealing technology, so Intel will get into lawsuit too.
@OP
Not really anything new here except the tech is flowing the other direction. When Intel opened Fab68 in Dalian China most of the seeds in process eng. took off for state run Fabs within 18 months of moving back to China after working in US and Ireland. TSMC didn't get where they are through purely self-driven technology. You can't keep it in the bag when you open a factory in Asia. You can't even keep it in the US or Europe if a large percentage of your stem employees are temporary Visa holders.
Uhhh, if true, any employees of Intel (including ELT) should immediately resign as this is in direct contradiction to the code of conduct.
But, then again, rules only apply to us plebs.
