Tech resources in VK’s org are now executing almost all of the tasks completed by the highly paid sales reps, including a 12 month forecast (and we are KPI’d by the accuracy of that forecast), how long before the cost cutting folks will figure that out? Layoffs looming!

Anyone can threaten a customer with a true up, you don't need sales reps for that.

Before you ask if we need sales, picture the average oracle developer trying to hold a sales meeting with a CFO or CHRO

The important word here is Oracle. The average “Oracle” developer. LOL. No one I worked with had any idea what they were doing even in development. Let alone sales or anything else. What a sad place.
It’s like the Russian army. Putin/LE wildly gesturing and talking about what the army is supposed to be doing. Below him are stacks of incompetent managers all lying up the chain. And at the bottom total and complete CHAOS!!!

We need sales a lot more than the multi layers of management, with VO’ answering to other VP’s, even directors

All the tasks? Including the endless follow up and outreach it takes get in front of customer's only to have overpaid managers and uninspired SC's come in at the end? You clearly have no idea what it takes to get customers to buy if you think keeping a forecast is the nuts and bolts of a sales job at Oracle. Most sales reps at Oracle make bottom of the barrel base income and some of those bottom of the barrel earners bring in a ton of revenue to Oracle. Sales is the only thing keeping this ship moving.
