Network SVP's Bring in the "Org Doctors" - Guess We're Sick

So the big "integration" of the Network orgs is going just super. The two SVPs who now run the combined mess apparently can't figure out what to do with us. Heard through the grapevine they just hired a big-name consulting firm to "evaluate the organizational design and operating models."

The kickoff meeting was yesterday. Feels familiar, right.

This seems to be the classic move when leadership doesn't actually have a plan. They pay a few million to a bunch of people who don't understand our business to come in and tell them what to do. The word is they're going on a "listening tour." They'll probably make a bunch of pretty charts and graphs that basically say we have too many people doing overlapping work.

It looks like a way to get cover for the cuts they already wanted to make. Now they can say "the data suggested" we need to streamline. The whole thing has that distinct passive-aggressive vibe. Instead of just making a tough call, they're bringing in a third party to do it for them. It's like they ordered a pour-over at a coffee cart and then asked the barista to taste it first to make sure it's good.

Maybe I'm just being cynical. An outside perspective could actually spot some real inefficiencies, I guess. But let's be real. This is likely just the first step. If you're on a team that's been a pain to get resources for, or your projects have been in "wait and see" mode since the SVP shake up, I'd be updating the resume.

This is usually how it starts. Heads up.

@x5 The other thing the "Owners" of the site don't do is keep company information updated. They've not updated the company information since prior to the Sprint merger. Example:

As of December 31, 2019, T-Mobile US employed approximately 53,000 full-time and part-time employees, including network, retail, administrative and customer support functions (source: 10K SEC Report). As of March 31, 2019, Sprint had approximately 28,500 employees (source: 10K SEC Report).

Based on my 5 years visiting this site, mods scrub posts on a regular basis, and I think that applies to all forums here, not just this one.
There is a high correlation between site’s rules violation and post deletion.
In short:

  • no PII (i.e. names, addresses, other personal info) - mentioning public figures such as c-suits is ok.
  • no threats, no bullying others, no vulgarities;
  • no derogatory speech (insults, racism, etc);
  • no spamming and trolling;
  • no political/religious/medical rants or similar off-topics, that gets deleted instantly.

Other than that, pretty much anything flies.

(I’m not the OP, I just copied that from an old thread)

If you don't have the talent in your own huge company to look at this without outside help....yikes. All of these consultant groups are a way for upper management to be able to go home and look at themselves in the mirror because they can say "wasn't my decision." All the while there is a voice inside telling them they are the useless ones that should have been axed. But they'll squelch that by scheduling a few more meetings so we can all be in 14 meetings every day so they can appear busy.

Day late, dollar short. This should of already happened. Edwidge and Jennifer are the consultants. They were let go then contracted back to get the train back on the track.. they will realize the area model is a big hoax...

yes something needs to be done fast to keep the stock up. If the stock drops, the place will go under. Hopefully, smarties figure out how much is spent in the different orgs all over. The telcos need to have govern regulation come in to stop the massive spending on useless projects. The most useless is in IT and IT and IT. All the telcos do is put a sim chip into the phone. Like the older Cody dude said long ago when he was around. All the telco's do is put a sim chip in a phone. Nothing else is needed.
