Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Get used to it or leave

Someone asked an excellent question - is it really that important which day the layoffs will happen? Even if I am not impacted soon, I am well aware that this does not mean that I can breathe easily because layoffs are a constant threat here and you should always have your resume updated.
For those who are looking for a more stable job, is the best solution to leave this company or this industry altogether?

Really, there's no safe job from a layoff, at most levels. Telco and other mature to declining markets tend to be the worse industries for layoffs.

there are several studies that show the likelihood of individuals doing unexpected things are lower when RIF'ing mid week. Lower su----e rates, etc. HR showed them to Vz managers a few times. I don't recall the exact P values, unfortunately.

Sadly, telecoms and others sponsored those studies iirc.

Junior, RIFs typically occur 30 days prior to the end of quarter. Once in a while there are out of cycle RIFs and those are the ones that you need to pay attention to while recalling your Active Shooter training.

OP you probably aren't aware of this since you most likely spend your days playing video games in your mom's basement, but getting rif'd is one of the more significant events that can happen to anyone who holds a job. Stop assuming you know why people are interested in rifs and judging them based on your poor assumptions.

BTW this board is devoted to RIFS!! If seeing rif related posts causes you PTSD then you should troll elsewhere.
