Rumor mill is stating employees in some departments that had 15 years or more were pulled in and offered VSP??? Are these rumors or truth?

Nope, nothing.

If there is another VSP coming, look for a HUGE take-rate - and hopefully mgmt does not have the right of refusal 'due to business' needs.

I didn’t hear this but I have heard from multiple sources that another VSP is coming very soon.

Perhaps they were canvassing to see who/how many would take a VSP?

The only reason they did the 2018 VSP rather than a RIF was to get rid of the older expensive employees without getting sued for age discrimination. Management approval of the VSP volunteer pool enabled them to retain targeted talent.

No VSP, just RIFs. For the union, they'll move you 100 miles away or you'll be declared surplus.

Long before VSP people would tell their managers or directors hey I’ll take a RIF if you need to RIF someone. Sometimes managers/directors had input and sometimes it might aligned with everyones needs and it was sort of volunteering for a RIF. I can see that happening long before the thought of an actual everyone gets a chance to volunteer VSP like 2018.

It’s actually Voluntary Separation Program and it’s unlikely to be offered again anytime soon.

I wish they did. Some of us who got the boot really liked our jobs, the pay and benefits, and our co-workers. It would be better to ask for volunteers first but we are stuck with 5YEEEEEE.

LOL How many management employees are pension eligible? Why offer a VSP to somebody not pension eligible when it's typically less expensive to just RIF? VSPs for management are long gone.
