Thoughts? Seems like a line in the sand, even if faint.

Also haven't received this magical e-mail. Yet I'll be downvoted because of course I must be lying.
Then why is it one-size fits all instead of selectively applied in the areas they want to increase voluntary attrition? I know the bank wants the overall headcount down but that’s not the case for every LOB or support function. I know in my area they actually considered attrition a problem that needed fixed and a big part of it was people leaving for lateral moves that were full remote. They’ve stabilized it now by giving out a bunch of promotions and raises to keep more people from leaving and raised what they’re offering to bring people in. I definitely benefited there so not exactly complaining but it doesn’t make much business sense to me when they could’ve just allowed us to work remote and probably would’ve saved a fair amount of money.
Still waiting on this magical email. Did only certain businesses get it? I’m in Risk in Auto Finance. No one here has gotten it.🤷🏻
Lot of people missing the point here. RTO has NOTHING to do with returning to an office. It has EVERYTHING to do with (1) increasing voluntary attrition, and (2) increasing terminations "for cause".
The goal is to reduce headcount by the least expensive means.

So we must all return to office. Is the office ready for us?
If everyone goes back, will there be enough seats and parking spaces? All Agile teams have the very same meetings on the same days according to the sprint calendar. So some days will require everyone to come in.
With some buildings closed or sold, this will be interesting. Somehow I don’t have the impression that Corporate Real Estate can handle this.
Before the pandemic, many had assigned cubes. Now the cubes are unassigned. The chances of finding your coworkers in a vast crowd of free for all cubes is small. I laugh when they talk about collaboration since they have tried so hard to discourage it with this new non-assigned seating.
The back to office experience when you don’t even have your own place to sit is miserable.
If you accepted a job with Wells before COVID and you worked in an office and you are now just thinking about going back you are now in a state of catch up. Being in the office IS part of the job, again. You need to get with that program or look elsewhere.
Didn't get email. Lots of buzz about it, though.
It's been awhile but if you get fired, you file a complaint with the EEOC based on fairness and now "equity". As a nationwide company, they have to show how what you were fired for was implemented consistently across the corporation. Is RTO being consistently implemented across the entire corporation?
There is a legitimate tracking system but I can’t share that. Sorry. My concern is the performance review potential comment. For me, I don’t mind the office at all, but since I never asked for remote yrs ago when I could have, I’m about to pay for it b/c life changed since then. All adults should be treated as such and this is the opposite of that. I Guess we have an attendance policy like my elementary school kid. So is my kid’s more important than mine SVB? I lost at least 20 IQ points just reading that email a few hours ago, but solid plan on bonus week. Mass exodus coming I’m sure with a less than 3% unemployment rate in IT. Good move! Cripple projects, then hiring, so nothing gets done for another year then the cycle happens again.
It’s clear that if you are still sitting there saying you refuse to come in, your days are numbered. You are failing to meet a basic requirement of your job based on what I read. It is clearly laid out for you. Bad time to get fired. Just saying… might be worth keeping your mouth shut and showing your face.
As an Agile team member, it says I must be in person for sprint planning and backlog grooming. It’s because of the “comfortable” chairs. Can someone direct me to these chairs? I have yet to find one. Is it a particular location, like Hudson Yards? Where are these mythical comfortable chairs?
As I am alone in my time zone, going back into an office does not mean I will be at any meeting in person. Just on the phone, same as always. No difference at all.
Or maybe I won’t make the meetings, as I am still busy searching for those comfortable chairs.
define day? 24 hours? as an exempt employee I would classify a day as anything >4.
“You are expected to be present in a Wells Fargo facility at least 3 days a week “. Exact words. Pretty clear. & “present” not just log in for 2 hours & split. It’s it’s now a defined performance issue.”this in office expectation applies to everyone in all staff roles”. No more “I didn’t know”. For those already complying it’s nothing new. For all the “f RTO” people you are now on notice.
Does the email state when this part-time RTO is set to begin?
Bei and Scott sent an email that said they expect people to be going in 3 days a week. The email did not specify number of hours, nor the official exception process.
My manager would gladly submit an exception request for me, but since no guidance has been given on that process, I can't move forward with an official request.
Has an e-mail gone out? Sometimes it seems it takes a day or so for all team members to receive them.
The 40+ mile from a “facility” about to learn their fates.
@dzj+1kYm3hhr That is mentioned either in the email or on the website. If you have an arrangement already set then you should be fine. Of course talk to your manager to confirm.
As usual... NO mention of people who were hired as full-time telecommuters before Saul started as well as those who have been hired as full-time telecommuters AFTER Saul started, including those who were hired as full-time telecommuters last year,
Let's go folks.. Meet in the cafeteria!

Thank you! I’d say I fit that bill but do not see any of these details anywhere.
under the COO tho so maybe not? Weird
“Average 3 days”. Over what time period? A month? A quarter? A year? Lots of using the word “may”. To me this is not going to be applied evenly across the company.I think they are carefully encouraging people to return to the office and leaving must if it to manager discretion. Otherwise they would have CLEAR expectations like what is a “day”.
Same sentiments from my department in a team meeting last week. They are pulling a monthly report to see if you are making it on average 3 times a week - so there will be some weeks that doesn't happen, but that's okay. Just don't fall on the wrong side of it more often than not.
@liu+1kYm3hhr It does say "Distributed to US-based employees in staff roles" Staff roles defined as business support and development roles that support and enable employees or lines of business to perform their work.
How to apply for workplace accomodations?
Anyone not get this email or see it on TW?
I think that’s probably the case but they just don’t want to advertise that and encourage people trying to game the system. Ultimately it seems like how to track, enforce, and handle the minutia of different scenarios that occur are left up to the individual LOBs. For my LOB I’m pretty sure managers just get a monthly report and as long as your weekly average of in-office + PTO + holidays rounds up to 3 more often than not, it’s not a big deal. At most you’ll get an informal “hey try to pump those numbers up next month.” At least so far.
If you have a good relationship with your manager you should try just straight up asking what kind of reporting they receive in your next 1-on-1. Chances are they probably get something from sort of dashboard that the reporting team for your LOB has created.
"What happens if you take 3 pto during the week?"
Counts as 3 in-office days, according to the email
At least there is now something in writing stating holidays and PTO counts as "in office".
Should also have the option of 12 days per month. Stop treating us like children.
What happens if you take 3 pto during the week?
“An average of three days a week”. Does this mean I can go 4 days one week and 2 days the next and stay off the radar? Looks like to me they are going after the people not coming in at all or 1 day a week.
For those asking about guardrails re: mandate, please stop or WF will put them up (e.g., how many hrs in office).
Increasing their position in the wfh/office battle
Go to the site she referenced. Expand "Aligning to the expectations". The first paragraph will give you some answers. You're welcome!
still leaves a lot in the air. "a Wells Fargo facility"? guess I can go into any office. How is it being tracked, what constitutes an in office day? as a manager being forced to enforce this I have no details or tools to do so
"We recognize that many of you are working from the office as expected..." If that were the case they wouldn't have to send out this email. I'm still not planning to go in.
I'm glad we don't have to come in 5 days/week
None of my colleagues work in my city. Why am I expected pay for parking, gas, insurance, a car, and work clothes just to sit in any random cubical on any floor of any building I choose? I think the answer is culture but the only culture I'm experiencing is one I don't want to be a part of.
