Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

What if we ALL go Union???

If AT&T can do it, so can we? And at this time, we should all do it. Recession is on the rise and who they’ll come after is Solutions Specialists, NOT SMs, NOT GMs, NOT Area Managers, DEF NOT “USELESS” DOSs and the main corrupt one the VP. Once again said, AT&T has it and T-Mobile (Sprint) is gonna become one soon. A lot has been taken away from us & we can’t let these extremely corrupt individuals take it away from us.

We can get you raises. And get your comp plans back. But, only if everyone joins. With numbers we can do anything! Going union is the answer! The only way! Get everyone on board and you'll see. It'll be a real red wave.

Unions are great if they have leverage. Say the NYC mayor telling the company we can’t not phones in NYC (most wall street) tove em whatever they want. Most people wouldn’t even blinknif a few wireless stores closed. Probably wouldn’t realize that the store that is open down the street that says VZ is a reseller

Please educate yourselves on the Union and pay. The Union is not going to set your comp plans and targets. They might protect you from being written up. They might help w getting your schedule two weeks in advance as promised. They might help negotiate benefits per se or other work place programs. But those complaining about salaries, quotas, comp plans, etc. That is not what the union is there for. They are there to take our dues. These reps are like the best sales guys in our business with tablets and rerates. For 30.00 more you get to have all these benefits but we will work that 30.00 into your salary and you won’t even notice the difference. How has Starbucks benefited with the unions?

To the guy begging for food during the strike, stop living paycheck to paycheck. Save save save for a rainy day regardless of where you work and if you’re union or not.

I remember that one too. The company wouldn't budge. We were out so long I didn't we were going back. The union definitely overplayed their hand. Dark days and hard times.

I've been cwa for the past 15 years.
You know what the highlight was?
When they convinced us to go on strike... all we heard about was brotherhood and solidarity. AFTER we walked, the cwa told us there was no warchest... we were on our own. Thanks to the union I had to beg my friends and family for food for my kids.
We didn't even get anything significant for the trouble.
It was kinda funny calling in to listen to Shelt0n screaming and spitting into the phone for our daily update.
What a tool!

My Verizon store went union. CWA is member run. They are a good union. Unions help keep managers from having unfair power over you. Our store has much less arbitrariness. It’s run fairly and the union members keep management honest.

More union stores = more worker power. More power can mean more money and more fairness. We all need to join the union. If you’re not trying to find a solution to our problems you’re just bi-----g. The union gives us a voice -use it.

AT&T does not make more than us. Also the CWA is in it for the money money.

I hate when you people try to use the Brooklyn stores as an example. Their power is weak because they only make up a fraction of a fraction of the verizon workforce. You just sound outright d-mb when you try to use them as an example. As far as union dues. They total to around $300-$500 per year. I know my yearly income has dropped 10's of thousands of dollars from not having a union. I'd gladly pay dues if they can help get some of that back. AT&T employees make way more than we do now. Pre-Hans we made more, but not anymore. Even their managers make more than our managers. All because of the union making them be competitive with pay and benefits across the board. Its kind of like a "trickle up" type thing.

The only way a union will work is if it is run by us, don’t trust the cwa. They are snake oil salesmen.

The cwa has hundreds of thousands ofmembers all over the north america... news workers, printing, broadcast industries flight attendants and call center reps in many fields (including existing verizon). And, you're saying it's powerless unless all the stores join too?
It sounds like you're expecting to fail. It sounds like you're getting the excuses all lined up.

Set up a gofundme... When you guys get us better pay, benefits and work/life balance, then we'll donate what we think you're worth.

The strength of a union solely lies in numbers, and that a company would NOT be able to function without all the workers.

The only way a union would work is if every single provider of Verizon services are unionized such as network, all sales and service employees and even some of the BR cronies.

If all that was to occur, verizon would have no choice, but if 1 of the above mentioned groups was not union or if all the work was automated, verizon wouldn't feel it.

Two id--ts that constantly say let’s go union won’t a way out from doing the job they were hired to do. If you don’t like it just save us all and quit.

I agree with @sqc+1kOap6di. Anyone considering going union needs to get educated. Read the existing contract thoroughly. Compare what a 10, 15, 20. 25 year union member gets today... that's what they sold us. Then look at what a new union member gets and what they'll get in as many years. We'll never get half of what they promised us. They'll take the same dues from us, though.

Unions are garbage. They do not increase employee compensation. They are in it to make money with false promises. They make things worse. It’s better to voice your own concerns. All the union trolls should go week in Brooklyn.

In CA we were brainwashed. We thought the union was out for our best interests. Our last round of negotiations were our wakeup call. They drew out negotiations. Why? Because they were holding firm on hiring more... Translation... more due units. More income for the union leaders. They were fighting for their own raises. All while surrendering retiree health benefits. My father is a retiree affected by this. He has cancer and our family is now struggling to afford decent care for him. Does think the union won't throw you under the bus too.

This company has become a dumpster fire! The union stores have all given positive feed back so far. The only ones posting anti union stuff on here are verizons anti corporate team. I won't name names but they are a special team specifically designed to beg and plead not to go union and use the same bullsh-t story about the Brooklyn contract. I'm not selling union but there has to be a good thing to come from a huge union movement. What do we have to lose besides more money, benefits, and morale under the current failure we call upper leadership. They sell us turds disguised as gold and tell us we are lucky to be paid so well and to meet the laundry list of metrics with unrealistic goals to earn what? 600 maybe 750 after taxes when you max out and get the kicker? Upper leadership already stated that our ability to make 100k a year with commission is gone and never coming back. The upper leadership don't give a fu-k about the Frontline because they make 100 to 500k a year and above to take zoom meetings and pass the blame off to the lower management cause reps are struggling to meet 100 percent VCC, 65 percent VHI? High a-s quota on new lines and other metrics like over priced ARD. We need incentives and we need someone to help us fight back. The Frontline are now paid terribly and with the new hours are not really able to hold a second job.

If we all go union, the union masters will be richer. We all know they're in bed with verizon higher ups. We'll just have more control and corruption in our lives and less money in our pockets.

Ha unions do nothing. They are corrupt. Look at the promises made to the Brooklyn stores. They are under the same comp plan and performance structure as the rest of us

It’s about time. Union dues are like $30 and what we give away from our hard-work is wayyy too much. Has everyone seen how they’ve manipulated the commission structure? How’ve they been treating senior employees lately? If an experienced/senior employee applies for a higher position they ultimately higher “18-21” age groups? This company ain’t McDonalds & this Current CEO who have been “FIRED” for all his “Wrong Doing” is running the show & we’re all just watching it. Hans, Krista Bourne, and many other corrupt ones all for in this category. It’s about time folks, its about time. Enough giving “THEM” the comfort and DAT DOUGH, by literally slaving ourselves.
