Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Does Dilbert work at Ford?

Reading Dilbert this morning, I saw many of the situations at Ford reflected in the comics. Is that what we are, just the punchline of a bad joke, the laughingstock of automakers?

How come managers don't realize the ho-e we are in? The numbers are showing how deep we are in sh-t. Why are we chasing unicorns and rainbows, while we keep losing market? Why managers cannot tell the troops what is really happening and what's going to happen in the short term? Are we laying off more people? Are we hiring back retirees? Do we have too many or too few employees? Can old dogs learn a new trick or not?

I cannot plan my life with this uncertainty. I have put on hold the expensive vacation plans, because IDK when the axe is falling. I have a good salary, should I take a pay cut just to get out of FMC? I am feeling stressed out all the time, and it is not related to my workload. I work, not because I like it, but to bring home the bacon. Inflation, recession, layoffs, all is doom and gloom in the news, while the company is going insane with all those id--tic solutions. IDK if I can be around much longer, with all this stress.

We are in the middle of a worldwide recession! This is not about you and not even about Ford. Thousands of people are being laid off around the world and this is just the beginning. You can't have everything in life, at least not at the same time. You don't want to leave FMC because you would get a pay cut and you don't want to be constantly being stressed out because you could get laid off at any moment. Well that's the cost for staying! Simply prioritize what is most important for you: "peace of mind" vs "more money" and take a decission. Stop whining! Economy goes through cycles. It has peaks and valleys and life is about taking decissions all the time. Don't expect it to be all rainbows and colors. Every person got to be punched hard once in a while and they have to deal with it and move forward or get beaten. It will all depend on your decissions. Each time you overcome a difficult situation, you will get wiser and stronger. Learn to make sacrifices. If you need too badly to take some vacations, then do it, but you don't have to go to a very expensive place. As long as you can spend a good time with your family, that's all that matters. Nobody in this forum or any other can change the reality we are all going through. No need to cry, just focus and think how you can solve every problem; big or small and continue with your life.

Don't try to prrdict the future. Most companies are going thru the same issues. Just keep working and squirreling away as much $ as you can. Be prepared, and don't stress. You'll be ok with or without a Ford job.

I can't watch The Office either. I don't find my personal experience with the insanity of the real world funny, although my Gen Z daughter loves it.

This just points out enterprises are pretty much the same. If you're expecting the next position to be that different, your expectations might not be met.

And look at the carnage that is happening in the tech industry.

I think you are stressed because you don't have a plan. My suggestion would be to come up with a plan including focusing on doing the best on your job, get your finances in order, and look for other opportunities. You will be so busy and focused that you worn't have time to worry and your confidence will return.

Pointy-haired Boss - TELL ALL THE WFH PEOPLE TO COME IN FRIDAY FOR AN EMPLOYEE MEETING

Carol - HOW WILL I EXPLAIN TO THEM THE SADISTIC ADSURDITY OF YOUR REQUEST?

Pointy-haired Boss - TELL THEM WE'RE LIKE A FAMILY, AND I MISS THEM

Carol - DOES THIS FALL UNDER THE UNBRELLA OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
