Why I Hate Ford Motor Company

30+ year engineer here.

Ford was once a company I was proud to work for. The great past leaders like Alex Trotman and Alan Mullaly made me excited about the future of the company and its future. Great quality products at a reasonable price. The company treated employees right and rewarded hard work. People were promoted based on their people/technical skills. Don’t get me wrong… there was still the old boys club and favouritism but at least the slope of the company was positive.

Not anymore! People are now promoted because of “type” quotas. Leadership in Quality, manufacturing and design has fallen off a cliff. The GSR’s that actually are responsible for the final product are fed up and don’t care. I see salaried employees come to work everyday and do the absolute minimum. Leadership is so unqualified that they don’t notice because that is what some have done themselves for years.

Now the company has the clown Jim Farley as the CEO. He talks the talk, walks the walk and is part of the woke crowd.

The history of incompetent CEO’s is mind numbing….Jacques Nassar, Mark Fields, Jim Hackett and now Jim “know it all I’m always right” Farley.

Bill Ford needs to wake the F up before the company goes Bankrupt!

Back to why I hate Ford Motor Company.

They promote people based on quotas of gender, skin color, nationality, etc.

They terminate the wrong people. You could be the best engineer in the world for the job but that doesn’t matter if your a 50 year old white male. However if you were a man identified as a LGQTQ furry female. You would be on the promotion fast track.

Many people who call themselves engineers are not actually engineers and the company allows them to get away with this.

Ford told salaried employees they had to get vaccinated to keep their job. I’ve heard that several class action lawsuits are quietly in the works. They are gathering evidence on the experimental jab. More news and doctors are coming forward every day. The evidence is building and this won’t be good. The Big F is going to be F’d.

I could go on and on.

I will never ever buy a Ford product. I can’t support a morally corrupt company.

End rant.

Wow! The Ford corporate HR shills are still downvoting this thread. Doesn’t matter how negative the voting goes. People are still reading and pondering.

Ford continues to intentional send employees here to down vote the truth. Never has this happened here before (to this extent)

This just shows you how morally bankrupt Ford Motor Company really is.

@3uqp+1kN9XktQ You're bringing Tesla into a quality discussion? lulz.

I agree on Honda/Toyota being the gold standard but not sure I'd throw Kia/Hyundai in that mix. They have had some widespread engine failures among other quality issues.

I worked for Ford, but I would never buy a Ford. I thank Ford for paying my bills all of these years and I have contributed greatly to Ford.

However, Ford products are not good and unreliable when compared to the Japanese or Korean brand.

Sorry Ford. After over 100 years in making automobile, Ford still lagged behind other companies such as Tesla, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, and Honda.

Did anyone notice how this post got down voted continuously after 8am this morning (monday). Looks like Ford has its own misinformation agents at work.

Still doesn't change how my coworkers feel. They still think the company is morally bankrupt and quality is a disaster.

"Nepotism, when it starts rewarding a very specific group more often and more consistently than those that might be in a different minority group, or even those that come from the group of the workforce that is the demographic majority, then this leads to a different type of leadership homogeneity (In PD it was Raj and friends). This is still nepotism and should be considered discrimination."

That is not what nepotism means, du----s.

You lost me when you called Alex Trotman a great leader… he had Jac the Kn--e as executive Vice President…. Reorganization Ford into five vehicle centers…. That was (in my opinion) when Ford started driving towards the cliff. I left last May, I have no sour grapes in my mouth. proud of my employment there.

If Ford is so bad, why did you stay for 30+ years?

Your problem isn't Ford. Your problem is you. You only want to work with white men.

Either you got sh-t canned in 2022 or you quit over the vax. Either way, Ford is better off without you.

There's alot of anger and truth in the OP rant. Nepotism is the norm at Ford, sadly it has spiraled out of control since the Fields era, worsening with Hackett and an obvious mess under Farley. What lacks is accountability. GSRs do what their Directors ask of them. Yet, when poor decisions are made by those same Directors the GSRs atre blamed. My $.02, JF needs to eliminate at least half of the LL3/ 4s. Examine the leadership of a group like DFord and track how their so-called leadership has led to the success and profits of a program, if it doesn't eliminate them. If we are truly transforming to a company that manufactures vehicles with extraordinary connectivity and related services, everything must be measured by its success to a program. Otherwise it's all fluff and BS. The Design studios are also a mess, way too many incompetent Directors unable to make decisions and work with other disciplines. LOL, their CoS ( who was separated from F previously ) is too busy empire building instead of enabling his teams to dev vehicles. More than half of current programs are terribly behind in timing and well over cost targets, and people wonder why there's little investor confidence in Ford. Our leadership is at the root of the problems.

@1hkq+1kN9XktQ - You miss understanding the underlying rationale driving the choice of when to take sick days. For blue collars the number of days off, both vacation & sick time, are considered negotiated compensation benefits and as such are going to be used. IE - they aren't going to leave that money on the table. This essentially puts the two types of time off on similar footing and who wants to spend time off feeling ill vs just dealing with it and taking the time off when it can be fully enjoyed. It's well known that union folk are expected to use up all of their possibly PTO every year, many while collars see that and feel the same way. So it's not that people are unthinking fools for coming in with minor sniffles, but that they're actually making rationale economic decisions.

Why does one assume anti-vax? This Karen attitude has to stop.
Op just stated it was wrong to force any employee to get vaccinated to keep their job (or threaten to). Sure the mandates were dropped but i know a lot of people that only got the vax because the company said they would be terminated.

I know of 5 people in my plant (within a month) that were rushed to hospital be ambulance because of chest pain. Surprisingly they all got vaxed within one week.

So sad that last poster made assumption of sniffles. Can’t even compare the two Karen.

Some of your post had though provoking ideas. I agree that we need better leadership. DEI appeared that it was manipulated and has been abused. When a person of a specific ethnic background made it up the ranks, it seemed they would start promoting and advocating others from their diversity circle. Nepotism, when it starts rewarding a very specific group more often and more consistently than those that might be in a different minority group, or even those that come from the group of the workforce that is the demographic majority, then this leads to a different type of leadership homogeneity (In PD it was Raj and friends). This is still nepotism and should be considered discrimination.
But you lost me at anti-vax.
You seem to be the type that will come into the office with "the sniffles", infect us all, and you will accomplish nothing in the office while you are there contagious with the flu other than loudly bragging to the rest of us that you've never used a sick day.
You would think everyone would use their best judgement when it is appropriate to work onsite and when it is not, but it appears I work with mo--ns. This alone is why I don't want to return to the office. It really hurts my morale and professional motivation to see id--ts like you with 30+ years experience of damaging this company.

"Ford told salaried employees they had to get vaccinated to keep their job."
Was this ever enforced? In my area I am unaware of anyone who lost their job because they were not vaccinated.
