Ignore what's been threatened or what could happen. Has anyone actually been directly terminated as a result of not going in when they were told to?

I’m 40+ miles from the office and they still made me RTO.
It is, and F every one of those worthless NYC FS that perpetrated this crime. Their reign won't last, but I will.
The stock went up .97 cents a share at yesterday’s close. Keep it up guys! I need to sell all my shares but you’ve let the price drop by like $22 bucks since I quit. Can you get it back to $65 a share…even just for a couple days?
Excerpt from teamworks : failure to align with in office expectations may result in disciplinary action, including termination.
Read it for yourself under Technology Workplace page.
Now go to work you peasants. I need a new yacht.
“They somehow think they can somehow call it abandonment when I have been working and am still able to work?”
You’re an at will employee.
Oh, it's stacks on stacks of lies at this point. If the end result of forcing me to RTO is I quit, I couldn't care less if I pull out every deceitful measure to try and work around it.
The policy states that if you violate RTO, your manager is authorized to slide their hand down the front of your pants for up to 3 minutes.
@btn+1kMmr7iP If you’re 40+ miles then surely you are listed as Remote and therefore there is no RTO requirement for you. If you do have a location listed then you are either A. A Liar or B. A Fool. It has been communicated for 6+ months to review your work assignments, if you have issues with your listed location report it, if you’d like to change your location request it.
If you’re listed as Remote then sit down and shaddup. You will get a different directive later. It will be business as usual or “relocate to one of the following locations or we will take your refusal or lack of response to mean that you are abandoning your position. You have until X date to decide and Y date to relocate.”
In other words staff specifically listed as Remote will once again be subject to the Location Strategy of yesteryear.
Product Owner for a popular virtualization application claimed she was terminated for refusing RTO.
And if I've been 40+ miles away before all this went down? They somehow think they can somehow call it abandonment when I have been working and am still able to work?
Manager here
there absolutely is policy to deal with this.
in 2022, it was optional for managers to enforce.
In 2023 it's not optional. It's now published on TW.
My manager was told that they will be held accountable for in-office compliance for their team - and in turn they are holding me/my peers accountable...
if someone is not complying, we start the perf mgt "process" - documented conversations, clear dates/expectations, formal warning etc.
If someone moves from within 40 miles of office to outside of 40 miles from office and says "I don't have to come in now, i'm remote" - that will be considered job abandonment and subject to immediate termination.
It's real folks.
So how come that doesn't open up a can of worms for all the other people NOT fired after not even showing up? You basically had a direct report fire someone for a reason that doesn't get someone else fired? Discrimination much?
Director here: Back in July, one of my peers terminated an employee for non-compliance with RTO. After being consistently out, the employee was given a directive to get in to the office the next day and their response was "they couldn't since they were out of town and working remote."
Terminated with prejudice immediately, with full support from HR. Do not believe the bluster from all the keyboard warriors here, they will drop you for non-compliance.
I think that is what is now happening. There has been no policy and they figured out how to do it and now it is coming down
Absolutely not, I know someone from another bank has not came back even one day, HR told him we don’t have policy to treat this situation, people either quit or return to office. That person told HR “ I continue to work from home or fire me”.
No, there's not even enough real estate left to enforce RTO at WF
