Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How much cost savings can we get by moving development out Redwood shores?

That way we can keep jobs in US. There are other places is US much cheaper than Bay Area. E.g Charles Schwab moved to Denver, Colorado and other cities.

How can they unload Redwood Shores? LE is too cheap to pay to move the trimaran to Lan@i.

Yes it is better to hire top talent US citizens from other cities rather that 3rd rate Visa holders from bay area.

Curiously, abortion rights have not slowed the exodus out of states like California nor into states like Texas.

Thanks to modern travel methods, such things are really non-starters.

For American employees: there are a number of states were peoples rights are restricted, especially in the reproductive health area. Factor the costs to work around it and the costs of places like Austin, and all you’ve done is shift the costs.

Unless they can unload Redwood Shores it would become a white elephant, with lots of fixed costs.

While some workers might take a pay cut to move somewhere else, others, especially those whose roles are more critical, might balk at the idea.

The whole reparations thing in California could be an additional incentive for those who don't want to end up paying for it to leave, assuming it ever actually happens.
