How much do earnings affect layoffs? I know bad results always equal more cuts, but what about good results? Everybody is expecting a major increase in cloud revenue, will that reduce the chance of layoffs or will it have no impact if the decision has already been made?

A decision has already been made. If you are on a list, then you are on that list.
And for Oracle, cloud revenue is in the middle of going to 0 to 1 while competitors are going from 10 to 12. More right sizing is probably needed.
