Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Most Contractors Laid Off

Most of Capital One contractors have been laid off this past week. Some of them posted about it on social media and some kept quiet. They were laid off despite the fact it’s a dead season on the job market before the holidays. Contractors at Capital One are not considered pet of the team and are not invited to company’s meetings or dinners.

Contract ended.. not laid off… contractors work for their suppliers who take a huge fee while under contract (in the name)…

Yup, confirmed. I was notified a few weeks ago that my contract was extended only to be told Monday that it was ending 12/31. On top of Capital One's policy to furlough contractors for the holidays and I was given 4 days notice. Capital One is an awful organization.

There are a lot of fulltime employees who should have been fired. It's a sad company.

The contractors have not been part of company events for decades. This is not specific to Capital One. This is related to an old Microsoft lawsuit. I believes this is the lawsuit but i could be wrong. I don't consider letting contractors go as a layoff since they are a flexible workforce. Being a contractor implies you are just temporary and I think most are used to this arrangement.
