When leadership doesn’t care, why should we keep breaking ourselves to make them look good?

When I first started, I worked hard and had perfect attendance. I took no PBs. I received a mug for all my efforts. On that day, I learned a very valuable lesson (always use your PBs). A mug is not worth it.
@gn I had that same problem in my younger days. Went to a proctologist, and he said, "Well, this is... unusual. It’s probably nothing, but I’ll need a few samples just to be sure." I was in college at the time, so I thought, "Hey, money's money," and I didn’t get it checked. I did, however, make enough to buy a new car mostly from my golden egg production. Could’ve also been the Goldschläger. I was definitely drinking enough of that to fund a small gold mine. Still waiting for the IRS to catch up on the tax implications of my liquid assets.
@gg I sh-t fantastic, sometimes golden eggs come out.
You ought to get that checked out. Your paying attention to the wrong end. You're gonna wanna see a proctologist. You sound like a yes man, and not the good kind.
I overachieve even when not trying, it's a sickness really. I wake up and pi-s excellence.
@OP. I stopped overachieving in 2019, when I saw the "new" CEO rules and policies were to let go American people. For over 5 years now, I have seen people let go for having a pension or for disagreeing with managers. No matter what they contributed to the company. My team was ravaged a few times, no backfilling. In other teams, the "backfillers" were not Americans, but from LCCs. Why would I work for "free" when the company cares more about money and less about workers?
Since 2019, I do my job, I get paid, go home, end of story. Anything that requires my time during the weekend, it means OT. I hardly do COMP TIME anymore, unless it favours me, like a long weekend. I like the hard cold cash please.
I have being building my rainy funds since 2019, just because of those little cuts here and there, all those reorgs, all those big layoffs, and amazingly, I was spared every time. Well, it seems I am going to be using those funds next year. More layoffs and outsourcing are expected, and complete teams in Dearborn are going to disappear.
This is not an scary tactic, nor I am trolling, nor I am making this sh!t up. A lot of teams in my area know this already. It has been cooking for a while now (almost a year). There is no cancel, no backtracking, all is approved already from the top to move forward with the plan. The only "grace" is that we got the notice with time to look for another position.
So, if it is happening in my area and affecting multiple teams, there is a huge chance that other areas are going to be impacted as well. Don't wait until managers lay you off. Save money while finding a job in another company. This is not going to end well for white collars. Good luck everyone!
@bx Characters like that are the reason I like animals more than people.
@ar it was put in for butt kissers like you. Those stooges you mentioned as leadership could not find their way out of a paper bag.
None of them taken responsibility for the failures of this company. Especially JF. He deflects like a coward and a loser.
I’ve stopped ki-ling myself in the pursuit of the carrot at the end of the stick. I’ve removed all apps from my personal devices, work ends when I leave for the day. I always gave more than I got, and this shift in leadership and strategy finally gave me the clarity to stop.
I do my job well.
But I didn't run the company into the ground.
I won't do that to myself ever again for the company.
Run by a bunch of wannabe motorheads and EV wizards - not!
@at I suspected as much, this place is 'weird on purpose'... You hope before people treat you like sh-t they have the common decency to ask you what might be going on before fu--ing with your life.
@ar These guys don't collaborate themselves, why would we look to them to be the experts on collaboration?
DF BF KG JF all expect you put in a full effort for your position at Ford. Why do you think the RTO policy was initiated? It's because of people like this here.
Isn't problem resolution why they get paid the BIG BUCKS? Let them ATTEMPT to figure things out on their own.
Agree, do what you do but definitely make sure you get self satisfaction some way either at work or outside of it. A gym membership can help mentally and physically. More direct correlation to time spent working out and results, ha.
Go to work. Get paid to do the stuff. Do the stuff. Go home.
Work is transactional. Nothing more. If you believe working fir a corporation can be fulfilling, you haven't been kicked in the teeth enough by management yet.
You can still over archieve on not achieving anything. That way you still get self satisfaction.
I can’t help but overachieve, no matter how hard I try.
