Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

CONFIRMED: DOL probe into H1b use

Dept of Labor is probing WF on H1B abuse. Wf has been identified as having hiring practices that have triggered concern for lack of compliance to H1b program.

Clearly, as we’ve all seen, WF has abused H1b in technology. This has now come to an end, with the company quickly moving off H1b use and renewals.

It’s one thing to use this program to hire where there is a true gap, but we know the reality and see it daily. - that is they’ve brought thousands of Indians with questionable skills and credentials to the U.S. and are paying them significantly less than American citizens while there is no shortage of qualified Americans. Thus, a pure cost play vs appropriate use of the visa.

Myself and few other developers got laid off from WF. Coincidently all that are left are Indians(I suspect H1-B). And to be noted that the manager himself is Indian. If many employees can attest that could constitute a class action lawsuit. Any lawyer?

@pe very true, we’ve all lived this, witnessed it with our own eyes. This is the reality. Lots of people, American and other have been exploited here all to save a buck. Sad for our country

If you’re an H1b reading this, here is what you need to know;

  • America and the company you’re working at were built before you, by Americans
  • There are sufficient skilled workers in America (see above on who built everything)
  • You’ve been lied to that there is a “skills shortage” here and you are desperately needed because America is weak/uneducated/doesn’t know how to code, etc (again a lie, see point 1)
  • What’s really going on is you’re a pawn in the most powerful and wealthiest country on earth corporate capitalist system which has eaten you up and exploited you in a modern day sweatshop disguised as H1b visa
  • These same companies have laid off skilled Americans (who built everything you maintain), who they paid much more to, to exploit you and save some money
  • The scam is over. America is going back to work
  • Pack up and go build your own country, as it’s lacking in basic infrastructure and essentials
  • America will continue to attract the top tier 1% talent like MSFT CEO, which is fine - but that 1% is NOT YOU
  • Repeat, you’ve been scammed and are not the 1%, are not a tech wizard, and your home country needs you

Look at the H1Bs downvoting you. I’m sure it’s not popular due to the lingering “political correctness” id--ts in modern western philosophy, but rest assured, no Indian company is going to hire your white a$z for a good job in India. H1B should not exist. Fire any Indian not naturalized because they don’t share the same level of risk or financial strain. Send them home. Bye.

@dd ahh yes, you’ve been fed the classic narrative of no Americans can do this work. Of course, it’s a lie. There are plenty of Americans to do the coding. The h1b applicant are told they are filling a job for which no American can do. They get super excited thinking it’s some super critical job and Americans are mo--ns (btw who do you think built the company to begin with) and they are wizards.
But it’s all a ploy to abuse the system and save money. Simple as that. You’re being exploited. You don’t see Americans doing this work because they’ve been laid off and are not working there anymore because the company sold out their country to save some money and exploit you.

Trump is just looking for some more kickbacks. Buy a few tens of millions of his crypto and it all goes away. EVERYTHING is a grift with this administration.

Does it even matter? Without H1B’s WFC will just send those jobs to India instead of bringing Indians here, which so far there doesn’t seem to be any indication the government plans to go after that. At least the people they bring here put some of their salary back into the U.S. economy.

Not to keep beating this dead horse, but you’re missing the boat….literally. H1b’s isn’t what you should be going to your legislators about. It’s shipping your jobs overseas. I posted this on another thread but it goes here too:

The current administration can say whatever they want (and they usually do) about “helping American workers.” They brag about kicking out illegal immigrants. Great. They raise H1b visa costs. Fine. But here’s the part they conveniently “forget”: every single month, a cruise ship full of white-collar American jobs sets sail for overseas — all for pennies on the yen.

So if you actually care about American workers, tell the a$$holes you vote for to stop rubber-stamping corporate giants like Shi’te Fargo as they ship our livelihoods across the ocean.

Start reaching out to your local house and senate representatives and let them know the abuse happening here. I am done and will no longer be silent. Thinking of bringing my own mic and amp to a townhall and asking about how are all the Indian hires a representation of the USA demographics and what are the kickbacks they r receiving cognizant, I fists, apex, etc. and if u hear this one tech exec say they r our family now, I think I am seriously going to look into suing. U can’t even say family room on real estate ads. Also, family is not synonymous with respecting

@a3 what exactly is your point as it pertains to the relevance of my OP post? I don’t care about other companies and their abuse. It’s also not a threat to discuss current H1b exec order or legislation. It is however a heads up the DOL is probing WF for their abuse. HR is moving away from H1b use and renewal.

@OP Name one American corp that hasn't abused the H1B system. They were getting workers for close to half the cost of an American worker. And than they all started to outsource jobs cause they realized it was 5 times or more cheaper.
Unfortunately, only congress has the right to change the H1B policy for those already in USA (like F1 visa foreign students getting H1B jobs since they are already in USA and not have to pay the $100K fee). Trump can only touch any security concern type of issues hence the $100K fee on those outside of USA. If he had the authority, I'm sure he would have made ALL H1B visa applicants (within USA already or outside of USA) to have the hiring company pay $100K on new applicants and renewals. If that happened, than NO company would pay the $100K fee, and than there would be plenty of jobs for Americans. But he couldn't do that since it's not legally under his authority (only Congress can change the H1B policy).
