@d1 Only when the democrats do it. When the republicans do so it’s just fine, even when it tanks an otherwise decent economy.

This time last year, everything was cheaper and it was easier to change jobs. Just putting that out there.

It’s a tariff on services imported into the USA. If you support tariffs on goods and raw materials, then this is a logical extension.

We will see just how populist the GOP has become. Businesses will fight harder to oppose this than tariffs on goods because a tariff on services will come 100% direct from profits.

I never support more taxes and giving the government more control over anything.

I thought this was a country focused on capitalism. Isn’t government intervention a bad thing?

This will never happen.

On the slim chance that this does become law, it will almost certainly be struck down by the courts. The entire F10 and the ACoC will file lawsuits in every jurisdiction to get this enjoined.

You all could unionize, but that doesn’t seem to be your thing in O&G. Best bet is to find a line of work that can’t be outsourced or start your own business. It’s worked well for me.

Which would explain why companies are suddenly "opening a new office" in India. So now the jobs cannot be said to be "offshored" its just another office where "company associates" are doing the work. Get it wink wink!

GOP senator drops hammer on companies shipping jobs overseas with crucial bill: 'Those days are over'

Sen Bernie Moreno's bill comes amid the backdrop of the Trump administration touting its efforts focusing on US employment

FIRST ON FOX: Ohio Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno is introducing legislation aimed at penalizing companies who outsource jobs and operations overseas while at the same time providing financial support to avenues that create American jobs.

The bill, introduced on Friday and known as the "Halting International Relocation of Employment Act" or "HIRE Act," creates a 25% tax on "outsourcing payments" which are defined as any money paid by a U.S. company or taxpayer to a foreign person whose work benefits U.S. consumers.

The bill also includes anti-abuse language to prevent tax avoidance via U.S. territories and requires U.S. firms to fully disclose all outsourcing payments and contracts. Companies will also be prohibited from deducting any outsourcing payments.

Money raised by the penalty on spending on overseas workers will be used to support apprenticeship programs in the United States as well as workforce development programs.
