My whole team has banded together and not a single one of us showed up to the office.

Go ahead and fire two dozen people who make the wheels on the bus go round because you’re mad ELT has su-ked at its job for a LONNNNNG time. How very Intel that would be.

We write the code, MFer. We know the inner workings of the tangle of databases, data flows, who to go to to remove blockers. We’re ONLY here because we can do this job in 6 hours a day. Make it more, and we’ll go work somewhere that will pay us for full output.

Hey OP, I have seen this post for a while and one thing has bothered be ... You posted "LONNNNNG time". How exactly do you pronounce a long consonant sound? I can understand running a vowel for 4 or 5 characters but 5 Ns is just N.

By all means - keep on "protesting". Make inflammatory comments on circuit. Dig your heels in the sand. Dooo eeeet.

It only makes managements life easier - violate company policy and you will be exited without a package. Easy peasy with a pre-populated list with justification to go along with.

Oh, and you can likely kiss unemployment away as it will probably be for cause.

Well we know that coding jobs are down 30-40% in the last 2 yrs alone. AI is gobbling up your jobs at an accelerated rate, but until I see robots that can perform highly precise mechanical adjustments and repairs and flex and crawl/squeeze into tight places, as techs we still have time. If I were you coders I would be brushing up on my PLC coding and knowledge of RTS systems like LINUX and others. At the end of the day my skill/accuracy with tools may outlive your in/out coding.

Gotta say, never in my career have I seen so many people sign up for career su----e. Apparently no one thinks about the future - tech really isn't that big and you are bound to run into ex-Intel people elsewhere and most have good memories.

@ad it isn't about boot licking it is about understanding what is going on and knowing when to stand up and when to shut up. You clearly don't have the experience to understand what is going on. No matter how much you might think your job at Intel su-cks, and it probably does, it is far better than no job. If you don't think that you could be on the brink of no job than you should do some self reflect and get a clue. You have to know people who have been getting laid off. Reach out to some of them and ask how it is going. The vast majority are not finding jobs and the job market is getting worse.

Intel needs to reduce workforce to 75000 people by end of the year, so you and your team of protestors will be in headcount reduction group. wow, your team has 2 dozen 12 year olds that are throwing a simultaneous hissy fit! I am sure that won't stand out like something to make an example of. They need 2 good developers who know how to use AI tools to replace all of you. If you could have found a job somewhere you would have done it already. Your days are numbered so hope you are getting a lot of satisfaction out of this because you will likely regret it in the long run. This isn't a healthy company. That's ok, they are going to scrap most of that code anyway.

At least half of all databases and related code fail to add any value, and as the company gets smaller that is one of the many things which will be greatly reduced.
