Ford Land Follies RTO

Ford Land RTO is coming next week yay and already the tone amongst employees is becoming heated. Order your magnetic desk name plate, be sure to take it with you daily because of the center of gravity nonsense. One of my co-workers in Mexico told me that he is not allowed to park at the office and a large group is being forced to park at a mall nearly 1 hour and must take a shuttle. So add 2 hours a day to your daily commute and work schedule, great idea!! Some shuttles stop at 5 PM, so you have a 6 PM meeting with Asia, too bad for you, call an Uber. Who is the Einstein that is running this circus!

They were talking about it. I remember that. I think GM had done it.

The idea was to have people work remotely most of the time and only come into the office when necessary. They way the company could say búttloads of cash on office space.

(FYI, a “bútt” is a very large wine cask.)

@km

No that was a complete lie. I had an assigned desk until well into the pandemic.

Ford Land - if you're reading this - for the love of god, please put some outhouses at FN - the bathroom situation is ridiculous.

Every Ford land employee should have to be RTO if they are the division since they are the ones in charge of the office space. Can't solve the problems of the office if you are sitting at home on remote. How do you even know what the problems are.

I am looking forward to working full weeks starting this week. This hybrid work schedule has been terrible and is too much of a reminder of the pandemic we had in 2020-2023.

It is going to be exciting to see and work with everyone on Fridays again.

This is how we improve as a company.

@km In a meeting he mentioned the idea/decision had come about in 2018 - I'm sure someone brought up the idea long before that, hard to prove what decisions he made in his head and when.

@OP

This encapsulates how little upper management cares about the workers. Who's feeling inspired to work super hard?

"most of us worked 5 days a week in the office for years prior, so it is not a shock to return."

righto. why bother with any improvements when we can revert back to what we always did? fantastic attitude that really supports progress.

do you still pay your bills with checks in the mail?

I hope all of you have to RTO fives days a week AND have to put in 10 hours per day because they pile so much work on you.

@at we are already working you dum--ss, we are returning to spending half the day parking, looking for a desk, and shooting the sh-t with the guy sitting next to you, not returning to "work"

This entire plan is not going to help Ford succeed or reduce recalls. The hybrid work schedule was nice but most of us worked 5 days a week in the office for years prior, so it is not a shock to return.

The parking, unassigned desks and other complaints are valid. Instead of dumping $1billion into Michigan Central and other wasteful spending, Ford leadership should have realized employee morale and level of sentiment is more important to improving speed, creativity and quality.

workers can park in the city/public parking lots down the street and walk in. Nothing wrong with the lots other than broken pavement, poorly shoveled walk ways, water that sits, police presence due to do-no-gooders. Other than that... it works.

We run out of parking at dearborn r&e center forcing employees to double park along side of the main travel allies. Ford land's / security resolutionto the parking issue is to ticket the parkers instead of resolving the parking issue
