If you did, you'd know productive people are separated all the time. The ad-hoc nature of the seemingly constant re-orgs reminds you of a bunch of freshmen who have no clue where the "pool on the roof" is.

Laid off is a euphemism as well. A true layoff is temporary. What is happening now and in recent years is involuntary termination, but that sounds harsh so involuntary separation is the common lingo.

Sorry to hear this. Does also make it difficult on the people still there when someone who knows about thier work leaves. A lot of loose ends and a lot of work the shuffle around.

One tip. Be willing to take interviews out of your comfort zone/area. Your experience is applicable more ways than you think.
