Not true in USA. If your termination date is after your rsu vesting date, you get to keep them
If you get access cut before it vests - you lose it (for the US presumanly), regardless if you are still on payroll or not. It is considered "gardening leave" and RSU doesn't vest (see fine-print of your contract, it depends on your country).
