Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

This could have been handled so much better

If they cared about employees at all. But they don't give a damn whether we're stressing, or can't sleep, or have to take meds for high blood pressure. They simply don't give a damn about us. The fact that we still know so little about what's happening while it's happening shows that more than anything.

I get that you are angry. I am too. The company cut employees. Oracle is a multi-national billion dollar company with over 175,000 employees (before the layoffs). If you work in any company of this size, you are never going to be anything more than a number to the executives. Your manager may, or may not know your personal/health issues, but does that really justify keeping you when someone has to be laid off? Oracle is not a social org. Oracle is a business. If you want the kind of employment where personal connections/situations mean something to the top people, then you should look for work at a small business. Not a dig at you, nor anyone here. Just the way the world is.

We were laid off by a prerecorded conference call. Doesn't get more impersonal than that.
