Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

When will all of this be over?

When will we finally get to just focus on work again?

@a3 This is a crazy spin. Splunk is one of the best acquisitions Cisco has made. I don’t even think it was intentional. More like because even a broken clock is right twice a day. But they’re so busy trying to use Splunk as a lifeline for their other sh---y products (my god, did you guys not hear how atrocious the AppD renewal rates are on that last Beat??), that you’re spot on about strangling it. Splunk’s about to become a has- been

Cisco rolls from one layoff to another bigger layoff. They keep rolling to turn the workforce until they quit.

It will never be over. LR's are as part of the Cisco culture as prayers are in The Vatican.

@OP noone is stopping you to focus on work. Its you and your continued excuses. Now imagine thousands of you over the years and that is why Cisco is here today

Over? Just getting started. We are still in a tech bubble. What happens when a legit recession hits?

One pattern seems clear - someone at Cisco is starting to realize that pretty much everything the company does that is software-related (SBG, Splunk) is slowly failing. SBG missed its numbers for a second quarter. Lots of cuts in the recent layoffs hit SBG. My group in SBG was told directly that it is now considered "in maintenance mode", meaning, this group will not see headcount growth and will likely be targeted for further cuts.

The situation on Splunk is just CRAZY. Cisco wildly overpaid for this sideways tech, and then immediately started strangling it. This looks like buyer's regret but it is insane how fast this regret took root. I predict it will be spun off again within three years at a massive loss. This has to be one of the d-mbest major acquisitions by any US company in the last decade.
