we’ll probably be unable to deliver. No roles have been backfilled for at least a year. These layoffs have been hitting hard, and the team has been barely managing the workload as it is. I shudder to think what things will look like once this all blows over. I know it requires thought and effort, but how about putting at least a little of that into the selection process?

Oracle is on a hiring freeze, unless approved. So if you lost team members due to being laid off, they won't be replaced.
@am they laid off people that were generating millions of dollars in support revenue. Now 100s of CUs will not have any advanced support on an aging product.
But yeah the were pretty short sighted.
I blame the senior VPs and executive VPs for not being on top of their business. This was absolutely avoidable. Honestly if they would lose compensation/bonus/equity for having to RIF this would happen a lot less.
I don't believe it is any secret that Oracle is replacing MOS with a new fusion version, a this requires a huge effort to preserve/migrate KM documents which will otherwise be lost from customer view and eventually completely lost. Knowing some of the time frames for this, I don't see why Management would cut any of those working on this, but they did.
