Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What type of cash reserve do people have that were laid off?

Of those that got hit this go around, how are you doing financially? Just a curiosity about the demographic of people targeted. Do you have over $200k, $500k, $1+ million in reserves (not considering retirement money)? What amount would make you feel comfortable to ride this out?

Made hay while the sun shined and did not over spend. Got $100K in emergency fund, it will last about two years at my current rate of expenditures, without touching any retirement funds. Might have enough to just call it quits, the house and cars are paid for, there might be enough to just retire and keep busy doing other things.

I lost everything after covid finally was over. It's been a nightmare. I managed to save up about 150,000 in the short while that I worked there... I felt so lucky to work there...

The tech market has been in a tailspin for about two years already and is still pretty rough. It could be a few more years and if this AI hype turns out to be the real it likely will never see the halcyon days we saw from 2009 to around 2022.

As a single person with no dependents I think it’s save to at least keep around $150-200k liquid enough, we have no idea how long this sh-tshow will last.
