Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Location Strategy

Does anyone here have further insight into the location strategy Sam posted about? Specifically as it relates to the buildings that were previously deemed “hubs” (such as lake Mary, Tulsa) and her message regarding future hiring focused on the 3 centers going forward?

So many insecure people at VZ! Do your job and work to outperform the best you can. The only fate is what we make.

@fq nobody has a “place” in the company. They’ll let you go without thinking twice. You do realize that right???

You guys need to do your job and stfu. So much misinformation here y’all should be ashamed. You’re hoping to stir others up and make them doubt their place in the company. Sad.

@dr I see that Alpharetta has several positions posted, including GEA positions.

@as “still hiring” could mean a lot of things. Including 1.) NOT cancelling existing job postings, and 2.) backfilling any new vacancies.

This also does not preclude Lake Mary from cancelling job postings that may still be up, or laying someone off in 2 months that they just onboarded.

This is a phased approach. Consolidate to continue with the headcount reduction which has consistently happened over 5 years. Continue RIF’s to decrease overhead and sell off real estate. Step back and reflect on what has happened over the last 5 years. It’s plain as day.

Fake news. Lake Mary is still hiring. They need more people to play ping pong, do puzzles, and intentionally schedule conflicting appointments on office days.

Y’all’s SVP didn’t give you the full list? Yes, the emails only reveal the big three “campus hubs”:

  1. Basking Ridge
  2. NYC
  3. Irving, TX

But there are also named “business hubs” chosen by business unit leaders for investment:

  1. Alpharetta
  2. Annapolis Junction
  3. Ashburn
  4. Cary
  5. Chandler
  6. Irvine
  7. Lone Tree
  8. Miami
  9. Rolling Meadows
  10. Temple Terrace
  11. Washington DC

If you work in the location other than the ones listed, you are in a non-directional location. The locations will either be maintained or will be exited in the future.

Salt Lake City must have some pull because their center is closing but they’re all going home-based. Hmm!!!

It will s..k for a lot of folks, they are in final phase and locations will be sent soon. Must be ready for 1st quarter. Be prepared to commute more than 1:30 hour if your current assigned office is being closed...or else

Three hub locations, Basking Ridge, Irving, TX and NYC instead of the former FIVE.
Hiring will be for those three areas.
