Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Manager told me 5 days in office

My manager pulled me aside and told me that I need to start coming in 5 days a week to stay off a report. I'm not a contractor and I have been coming in 3 out of 5 days and working full 8 hour days. What gives? Has anyone else been told this?

I've been told by my managers that 5 days is expected for like 2 months now, and any remote days have to be reported on a case to case basis. Just unlucky I guess.

Nope, and if you’re in more than 50% of the time you will not be flagged in a report.

You should push back on your manager here because policy is majority of the time and this is a matter of public record.

Client services were told to come in 5 days and have been since April/May 2022.

I was told to come in 5 days starting in 2023 and I think this is a ploy to reduce headcount for noncompliant workers

I was hired for remote for 10 years. I will not come into the office. I get more work done at home not hearing other people's conversations. See how close those office cubes are?????

No manager, not even my own has told me 5 or 3 days a week. So much @$$×^@÷ confusion in leadership. I will continue with two days a week until told in writing. Then during days in the office do not expect me to be reached after hours.

First day in BH to be clear, we were hybrid before.

My team was told the first day by our SVP that we need to come in 5 days a week and then gave a veiled threat that they fired a couple IT people for WFH. I updated my resume that day

EMEA were told all "people managers" had to be in an office five days a week to set an example. That includes SVPs downwards. Everyone else is three days per week with badges being tracked to enforce compliance. Permanant remote workers working in EU countries where Fiserv do not have office were mostly terminated during the last wave.

This was the same approach they took once covid lockdowns were lifted. Managers back first then everyone else. Except to be back in an office five days a week before march 2023.

The policy as announced in March is "the Majority" which means 3 out of 5 minimum. There has been no announcement changing that policy.

I have no problem coming into the office everyday, but they better matching pay raises to at least covering inflation and gas, and with ZERO expectation for working OT.

So externally (job seekers & investor calls) they are saying hybrid work but internally it is in office full-time.

WRONG. Many of us were hired FULL REMOTE which is now being walked back. Because our leadership is apparently stuck in 1950.

That said, it's the plan. It's been the plan for a while. "Hybrid" was always a temporary thing.

Just listen to the managers in the town hall meetings. I've heard "we are a company that works from the office" in at least the last three I've been in.

Just a guess. Your manager needs his whole team to come in 50% of the time for the month. But with everyone out for vacation this month, you need to come in every single day that you are scheduled to work, to make the 50% for the month. Maybe it is just your schedule. Maybe it is the number for the team, and you need to cover for someone who is out more than they are in the office.

It doesn't matter what happens, the only thing that matters is that the numbers on the report look good.

This was always the plan… you were hired for 5 days a week before the pandemic and you should have no expectation that they’d keep it 3 days
