Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Considering a position for OCI

How stable is the career at Oracle for SWE, principal level and above? I am seeing red-flags.

@14n do you see engineers getting laid off before their vest date? That is my biggest worry. I feel I may be fu---d a week before my vest date.

Don't do it. I have been here 23 years (don't ask) and wouldn't recommend it for anyone.

Idk it felt like a mess so after a few months I just quit showing up. They're making money though so good for F1 sponsorship teams I guess.

Get your money up front, because it's unlikely you'll never see another substantial raise. if they give you 3% every 3 years they think they're doing you a favor. You might get lucky and get into a business unit that gets RSU, but consider if you want to hang out for the typical 5 year payout schedule or not. I guess you could call that stable, but if you're looking for a career path with an upwards trajectory then hop on board, get your training and comps then start shopping around. Promotions are 'dry' meaning that they don't come with a raise.

Reorg every year. Product mix changes constantly. When they forecast 100% growth that means doubling quota year over year with no basis on actual consumption or customer purchases.
