I really don’t think everyone being promoted is unqualified, but it’s clear we’re not prioritizing the right things. We move too fast, don’t properly vet candidates, and then act surprised when people can’t lead or even handle the basics. Then it’s us, the ones under them, who deal with the fallout. It’s not fair to anyone involved.

promotions that go to the people you as a leader like or are in essence "yes" men or women has been the bane of management for a long long time.
You don't think it would be different at Oracle do you? Its rampant here...
We see it all the time, really not much you can do about it except 1) deal with it or 2) move on
