I’ve gotten a text msg asking if I was available for a quick phone call; next thing I know from the phone call that I am out of job

I got a phone call first thing in the morning. Nothing scheduled.
You don’t need a scheduled meeting. My manager just messaged me, have you got a second for a call, and when I got on the phone he had a well rehearsed single sentence, and the deed was done!
