Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Genuine question for this forum

How many of you actually enjoy your job? Not tolerate it, not put up with it for the paycheck, but truly find satisfaction in it? I don’t know anyone in my circle who does. Curious if that’s just my bubble or something bigger.

Nike is a great job for people who don’t care about doing great work. Nike as a brand and company is still great despite this. It could be so much more…

I quit 2 months ago for personal reasons. I truly enjoyed my job.
Leadership was making constant non sensical changes that I disagreed with but my MO was always to tell them why I disagree, then they’d dismiss me, and then I’d just do what they wanted me to anyway. My conscience was clean and I just didn’t take things personally. And I genuinely enjoyed most people I was working with.
Most of my coworkers didn’t see it that way though, they’d carry their frustration about the leadership decisions on their shoulders and get burned out. Pretty sure they identified with Nike as a brand more than me, which plays a role.

The work subject matter is great, but the people making organizational decisions are greedy shortsighted fu--s with no accountability. So I enjoy the job when they stay out of the way, which has been never these past 4 months

i love my job but hate dealing with leaders who are completely incompetent and make terrible decisions because they are living in the past and thinking strategies that worked 10 years ago still work now.

I have meetings at 5am, 8am, 3pm and 11pm. When I’m unlucky I have some at 5 and 6pm too.

I hate my ducking life. My little son hates Nike. I have no work life balance.

The people signing checks to spin up engineering teams around the globe don’t have to deal with the repercussions of their decisions. 5% savings buys a 100% morale cut with a 40% loss of cohesion on the side.

We will be a business study in 10 years.

Love it. Where else you get a salary to do almost nothing and blame other teams or off shoring or leadership when something goes wrong.

My job working on footwear product is great. I’ve spoken with a lot of colleagues that have left for other companies. Some enjoy the change, but a lot say the grass isn’t greener, just different. That being said, there are issues, mostly political, but the day to day getting shoes on the table gives a lot of fulfillment.

I’ve been asking myself this a lot lately. The last 2 reorgs have been a complete disappointment. Consistently poor promotion decisions have also led to a decline in managers. I’ve learned the hard way that your boss and team shape the quality of your work life. It’s not unmanageable yet, but I’m close to considering other options.

I love the work I am doing but I am not so sure about the people I am surrounded with, if they too have the same affection as me, because individually I might be happy with the work, but together as a team I don't see it.
So on personal level, I love what is do, together with the team , damn it!
