Rumor is that it was at least a dozen within the Marketing department, possibly in advance of a broader layoff coming at Ally

Not a rumor. Marketing definitely got hit as I was one of those hit. It was 5-7% of the department (~10 people). More to come at the company level this year. Marketing only did it early because they were in the midst of a massive reorganization so it needed to be done prior to the reorg announcement.
Definitely more than marketing. Much of the company to be impacted
So I know of 7 people impacted in the marketing one. have heard the rumor of more coming in late Q3 but its mainly contractors and potentially some HR roles.
