With the exception of maintaining/growing the dividend all Stankey did was execute Elliott Management's plan.

growing the div? not after they got a taste of cutting it.
A literal child could have done just as well and been a lot less morally repugnant to boot. Elliot handed us a commons sense plan to right the ship and we just kept sailing toward the icebergs. No one ever denied head count needed to come down, but age-targeted constructive dismissal is the most evil way to do it that does not involve violence.
Elliot’s stated opinion on The Stank: “unimpressive”.
Yep, pretty spot on, but they missed one:
Elliott recommended improvements in corporate governance and transparency, including:
• Clear performance metrics
• Better alignment of executive compensation with shareholder value
• Evaluation of leadership effectiveness
Lori Lee will make AT&T great again.
Don't blame the Stank for this mess. Lori Lee is the executioner on his behalf.
yep, that assessment of AT&T at the time was spot on
that’s a bingo!
Ha! 15 years ago, I wondered why the Board of Directors didn't just sell the whole company and use the proceeds to buy an index fund, and then get paid quarterly. It seemed to me at the time that they didn't really want to be the best internet or mobility provider, and didn't seem interested in their employees...Oh well.
