Does the layoff dates in warn consider the 60 day working notice? For example the Iowa WARN shows 35 layoffs in August. Is that actually those who got laid off in June?

@ww I’m not entirely sure what you mean by a warning notice. A “WARN notice” is a specific thing filed with the government and the. published. As I typically understand it, when WFC files WARN, those layoffs numbers represent specific people who have just been given their 60 day notice. If you were told at the beginning of the year that layoffs are likely coming in Q4, I’d assume that’s just your org giving you guys a heads up, and there will still be WARN notices to be filed once decisions are made, and those selected for layoff will probably begin their 60 day notice period at that time.
@k2 salem was given a warning notice at the beginning of the year for Q4 of this year. Would we still.get 60 paid leave when notice drops?
Pretty sure WARN is the whole reason for the 60 day notice. In theory they could just announce “x amount of people at this location are getting laid off in 60 days”, and not tell the specific people until that day and just let them keep working, but that probably wouldn’t be ideal, everyone in a department wondering if it’s going to be them for 2 months. So they give the 60 day notice to those they’re laying off, and for most of them it’s basically an extra 60 days paid leave before their severance starts.
At least in North Carolina the WARN notice posted by the state shows the date the layoff notice was given AND the date it is effective. An effective date of August 4 means the person was notified 60 days prior.
the 60 day notice we give which is typically non work for most, complies with the warn act on most places. They usually submit it the same day they give you notice so if it says 35 people are being laid off August 4 then the notice lively went out and those 35 people were informed 60 days prior.
