Behind the Unraveling of Wells Fargo’s Rewards-for-Rent Credit-Card Partnership

The partnership with Bilt had been scheduled to end in 2029, but Wells decided to exit early after it became a money-losing venture, according to people familiar with the matter. Wells warned Bilt it could change the card’s terms otherwise, including tacking on an annual fee of around $250 to $300 for cardholders.

I was put on the project when it started. I did not show up at the meetings and was not missed. It was doomed from the beginning.

Have friend who works on the ITAT and he told me it was a sh-t show when they rolled this out. Bilt wouldn’t give barely any information regarding where rental was located or who was on the lease. Supposedly the rental properties wouldn’t advise their tenants of the card and just sign them up.
