Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

All ETW over two years are gone?

My team has been stripped of 5 ETWs. Only two left. Both of us are less than two years. However one ETW had only
Been here for 3 months.

I am an ETW and haven’t been notified anything yet - Can someone confirm if I should be worried still?

I also see new folks under my current manager, is the new formation in place now.

When it comes to ETWs, I have found when there is a will there is a way. I have seen ETWs for years in different positions around the company covering leaves. I was an ETW and my contract kept extending and extending till I took a FT role. I feel like Nike always finds a loophole when it needs to.

the 2080 rule has been worked around, that's what you are talking about, doesn't exist anymore.

@a3 The only exit plan right now is the unemployment line.

ETW in GT, almost three years. Have never had to take a break and come back, I think that was the flex program that is no longer used, but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Every time there is a layoff I’m convinced I’m going to be affected but so far I haven’t. I’m prepared to leave at any moment, but I’m glad I had the chance to learn some new things and meet some great people (and some not so great ones). I just try and do my job, and when the hammer falls, it falls. But I haven’t heard anything related to what you asked about, but as we know, things can turn on a dime at Nike.

ETWs cannot have long-term engagements due to co-employment risks and IRS concerns. NIKE puts a cap on the number of continuous hours they can work before they must be shifted out, take a break, and return.

Were your ETWs mat or medical leave coverage? If not then the roles should honestly be reassessed under the new org. If mat/medical leave then I get it.

ETWs should be the first to go in all well run companies. If the contractor is essential and knowledgeable moreso than the fte then the fte should be managed out and the ETW converted. This is not a hot take but the premise that most companies run under.

ETWs should always have an exit plan and not rely on contracts getting renewed year after year
