Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Rotating Door of TDPs

Our group is on our 7th Technical Development Pathway employee in the past 18 months or so. They come in saying how they are going to streamline everything we do, stay for about 2-3 months before transferring or quitting, and never finish anything.

Their Sr. Data Analytics titles are starting them at $130k fresh out of college with no experience... it is so obvious we are getting what we deserve on this debacle. Anyone else experiencing the same?

@dc they do hire internally. Express interest and you will be notified when jobs open to applicants.

The program is joke and gives us the irrelevant mgt team we have today.

Unjustified hate on TDPs. Most I’ve worked with are actually pretty good to be honest.

It’s a rotational program, so they aren’t meant to stay in the same position unless offered a great role. It’s interesting so many people talk about their negative experiences because nearly all TDP employees I’ve had the pleasure of working with have been very knowledgeable and hardworking.

why would they work at a loser company like ATT? They are just looking to put the name on their resume and work somewhere like Amazon, Google, Nvidia, etc.

"Why would they stay?"

50% raise when they finish the program.

Most are nice kids, but most do come in with a chip on their shoulders. I can understand the why for the program, but I never understood why they didn’t take existing employees and put them in it also. Plenty of very technical and smart internal people that they should tap for this, but we aren’t eligible and there isn’t anything similar.

Yup. Kids coming in with no clue. I bet our customers love having children & India supper their company.

I mean, that's kind of what TDP is about. They're supposed to spend 2 years or something rotating through departments to see which one they like. And they don't make the 130K until after completion; it's like 96 or something while in the program.

I have never seen one that is “technical” or had brought anything to the table whatsoever actually. We have to try and find things they can do. Which we don’t have time to do.

it's been my experience that TDP is where some higherups place their pets, friends and lovers with jobs at T with absolutely no experience, no technical ability whatsoever and then placed in jobs all over the company where the rest of us have to deal with them in our work groups. i'm sure there are some that are technical and belong in this group but imo this program is not working.

Those sn0tn0se kids shouldn’t be making any $130K! They haven’t legitimately earned a fraction of that! T is the biggest squanderer of $$ besides the (equally inept) fedg0v!

This has been the case for years with all the rotational "leaders of tomorrow". The good ones realize what a sh!+hole this place is and move to greener pastures at better companies. The bad ones go back to school.

Yea. They are 2nd levels after they complete the program.

Followed by our " Leadership's " next steps: Hire a replacement TDP and expect their efforts to streamline, enhance, reduce costs, simplify workflows. Rinse and Repeat.. What is the definition of insanity again? And of course, no accountability for the multiple failures!
