@bw Age discrimination lawsuits never go anywhere. AT&T is ready for them and have themselves covered

Yes here’s my checklist:
#1) Don’t ever relocate on your own dime for a company with a toxic culture that has never ending layoffs and the worst leadership team in the industry.
That’s the extent of the checklist.
If you are serious about NOT moving, do a cost/benefit in terms of what you are telling AT&T. A lot depends on how many years you have at the company (severance is higher with more tenure), and if you will be on payroll through the 31st of the year (bonus eligible). Assume you will be terminated if you say "no" in a month or two. If you say "no" and accept severance, you will also get a pro rated bonus. If you say "yes," and don't plan to move, you need to calculate what salary you would make up until the move date or your resignation compared to your severance rate. Also you would lose out on pro rated bonus, unemployment benefits, and extended health care benefits. The advantage is you would know your end date vs. ATT picking a date 1-2 months out from you declining the move.
GFY corp lackey downvoter! F you & T!
A best practice is to network and find a sponsor or two (probably on your team) who can help answer questions related to the move. They won’t have all the answers but can often find resources to help:l and know the area.
“Tell AT&T you are willing to move.”
You will end up being outright terminated down the road when you fail to actually move.
- Make sure you have that promotion or big raise in writing before agreeing to move.
- If moving with no promotion, relocation or big raise: put on clown suit, paint face, don’t forget the big red nose.
People that were forced to RTO need to wise up. Once they lay you off file with the EEOC for age discrimination, do NOT sign the severance agreement. Don’t worry about not getting your severance because you’re going to cash out your pension day one. Then once you get your settlement “ it will be more than six months “ , you replace the money from your pension into a ROTH. You will be golden after that. My brother did that and his severance ended up being over triple once they settled. Their lawyers do NOT want to go to court. No more micro managing and now he is working for a company that is anti foreign labor. Believe it or not, there is a LARGE customer base that absolutely does not want to be connected to an Indian call center . Or, you can play the fool and let them run you off a cliff in your last few years. It will happen eventually, that’s just what they do to older skilled labor.
- Start looking for another job immediately.
- Tell AT&T you are willing to move.
- Stay as long as you can to max benefits.
- Work from home the last few weeks
Definitely lease, don't purchase.
Yeah #1: don’t do it because you’ll get laid off anyways
