Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Don't envy the remotes

Working here remotely has been draining. It feels like I’m juggling the workload of three people every single day. I barely get time to breathe between calls. Breaks? Forget it. Most days I eat lunch at my desk while catching up on emails. Management keeps pushing unrealistic metrics and deadlines, and when you speak up, you’re either ignored or told to “manage your time better” like that’s even possible. I used to care a lot about this job, but now it just feels like a never-ending cycle of stress, pressure, and burnout. Remote doesn’t mean easy, it just means invisible.

@vw and if you are unable to return because age drive is too far you will be forced to quit saving them laying you off and having to award any severance.

I don't envy the remotes as they wont be remote much longer. We will all eventually have to go back.

people in this chat - hope you're making 250-300k a year to work that many hours in a day

@c5 There was a time prior to Covid when we did go into the office each day and if you were lucky you were able to work from home twice a week. It really hasn't changed its just going back to the way it was pre-Covid. When Covid first hit I hated working from home every day and thought it would just be a couple of weeks but then it turned into years. I am looking forward to returning.

@at You need to be able to walk away or you will get burned out quickly

This sounds specific to your job rather than about being remote/ in office.

Like imagine if you had the exact same job with the exact same problems, but now you had to spend time commuting on top of it

@b2 I'm salary and work remote. No adherence to mess up - well at least not yet.

Doesn't that mess with your adherence though? You can't be logged into the computer when on break or meal time. That messes up your metrics more.

Here’s the best part. Some executives from another company say that all the ICM’s have beed classified incorrectly so they can get away with paying salary and not hourly plus time and half.

Yep, remote for me mean working 10+ hours a day minimum, working in the evenings on top of that at 10pm in addition to day times hours, sitting on the phone until sometimes 3 or 4 am and getting up in 3 hours to start the next day, being on call 24/7 responding to wardroom days/nights weekends interrupting your personal life constantly, repsponding to messages from management on your personal cell phone, all while getting no extra pay.

@OP yeah I’ve been here for a little over a month already and want to leave as I can tell it’s a overworked culture here
