Leadership keeps repeating it like a shield: “We’re taking accountability.”
But come on, we all see what’s really happening.
This isn’t accountability.
This is performance.
This is corporate theater, and we’re exhausted watching the same act play out again and again.
Real accountability means you stand in front of your people not behind consultants.
It means you roll up your sleeves, listen, take the hits, and fix what’s broken.
It means you lead. You sacrifice. You own it.
But instead? You hand off the work.
You hand off the responsibility.
You hand off the consequences but you keep the power, the bonuses, and the titles.
You brought in BCG. Spent millions. Millions on outsiders to figure out what’s broken.
Not because they know us better.
Not because they care more.
But because you didn’t want to do the hard part yourselves.
Let’s call it what it is:
“We’re bringing in experts” really means
“We don’t want to make the tough calls. And if this goes to he-l, we’ll blame them.”
That’s not leadership. That’s hiding.
That’s cowardice in a suit.
We the people who actually keep this place alive aren’t scared of change.
We’re not afraid to work harder, dig deeper, or evolve.
But what we are tired of…
...is being treated like numbers on a spreadsheet.
...is watching decisions be made in rooms we’re never allowed into.
...is hearing the word “accountability” while the people in charge refuse to actually be accountable for anything.
So here’s the truth:
Don’t just say you’re accountable.
Prove it.
Stop hiding behind consultants.
Stop deflecting.
Stop cashing the checks while pretending this is leadership.
Either step up or step aside.
Because if you’re not willing to actually lead…
Then what the he-l are you doing here?
And how do you sleep at night knowing who’s paying the price?
