Just curious. Does Nike still instruct employees to refrain from posting controversial and/or political opinions on social media? One of my former coworkers is constantly (several times per day) posting partisan material on her socials and I can’t imagine having done that when I was there a couple of years back.

Freaks like OP trying to get people fired over social media posts is why I don't give anyone at work my socials or personal messaging contacts.
On paper, as long as you aren't associating your account with NIKE's brand, you should be fine.
Probably the same people that voted for Kamala and think mean words hurt...
"Former coworker" and "worked there a few years back"....
Why are you on this site? Why are you still friends/following her on social? Move on with your life.

So is at-will employment. Any employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all in the U.S.
I personally wouldn’t give my employer a reason, but that’s just me.
Depends on how she’s posting. If she’s keeping it off work & entirely separate from Nike there’s not an issue.
On the flipside. A few years back there was one guy that had made working at Nike his entire online personality. Early October he came out strongly in favor of some violent activists. Used language that bordered on threatening individuals. He was let go before the day ended.
I think she needs to clarify her views are her own, there are some rules about what you do post.
Also not a super leadership oriented move as it could easily alienate co workers and people who report to her who have different points of view
Yes I agree with free speech. I’m not sure why this got so many downvotes. We literally had to take an online class telling us what was and wasn’t acceptable to post online, and pretty much everything was off limits.
