Take it from someone that is retiring after decades with only a free checking and a gift! Gain experience and leverage their tuition reimbursement and then move to another company.
It’s me. I’m the one that wants to stay. A company here and a company there is all the same to me. Corporate has always been corporate, only it’s getting a little more intense given the state of the market. Personally I work for my leader and I vet my leader the same way they vet me in the interview process. I need to know that the work my leader was hired for is going to make them a valuable asset to the company therefore they are a valuable asset to me and I’m going to help make them very successful. I’m thankful I found a real deal go getter. Young smart full of great ideas and most importantly she understands that work life balance is crucial in this world. It’s really hard to make it happen in this culture but that’s why you should be able to communicate and set healthy boundaries with your peers and leader because they have created that safe space to do so. I hope you all get to find your safe space one day and if you’ve already found it then you’ve been given a gift that you must nurture.
The very first thing everyone does at WF when presented with a deadline is to ask for an exception. The exception process is actually built into pretty much everything we do now. Don't believe me? How long after Internet Explorer was retired did we still have it? Years. How long after SharePoint 2007 expired did we have it? Years.
Don't we still have Windows Server 2012 installs? Pretty sure we do - in 2025.
All extended long past the deadline with an exception. So don't tell us 'no exceptions' - we won't believe you.
