Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

BYOD + Upgrade, an investors worst nightmare

BYOD + Upgrade promotion is a direct slap to our investors faces. A line that Verizon will claim as a new line of service that does not provide any income is something that hasn't been seen before, or is even quantifiable in a business strategy. Our quarterly report to investors will say Verizon added 'x' lines this quarter. What it will not say is the money Verizon gain's or loses on it. In 3 years there will be churn of all those lines, and $0 made. That say's a company doesn't have any sort of growth plan in the future besides these 'special' promotions. When a company gets to that point it may be time to watch out investing in it. Watch out investors. Just like the model you have bought in on the idea we will make money from this. All this does is falsely inflate new line numbers for the 'number' investors to buy into. In 3 years those lines disappear and you have the same problem we have now. This is just a continuance of a loss of money just for looks. I wish everyone the best of luck. In this environment, Verizon may be sc--wed.

In a way the company is trying to trick investors for more cash flow, but which company doesn't these days? I'll say $0 for a line and then counting it as a win is a pretty big sm--k in the face to said investor, as they will report it as growth when it is just stagnation. This happens all the time right?

Wonder if this little tidbit will get leaked to investors before the next earnings report like the second number fiasco that made them so mad. Guess we don't learn.

@167 yes being a free line will generate 0 revenue for the business for the next 3 years. You are correct in your assumption.

@OP just to understand what you’re saying, are you saying that a new line of service (which generates recurring revenue) that has no promotion or subsidy attached to it with a new phone, will not generate any revenue? Not to mention a stickier customer.

Let's just say someone were to sell over 100,000 worth of accessories in a year. That 5% would not even equate to a full month's commission check. It would not equate to even $1,333, which is a full month 100% commission. The hand that feed's me is fat and greedy and can come off some more of that money for the front line that makes them all their money. Feed them well and they will perform. That's not even a 1% payment, per accessory sold, at the end of the day. That's why there is a bucket, just to fool you as to what they make off of your labor. Don't forget from team commission to individual you got 20% more pay, but also you were expected to sell 20% more. They moved the goalpost without anyone even wincing. Expecting 20% more overnight and making the goals high so you could not attain your payment. This is exacerbated in the fact that at 80% you get the same pay as if you were on a team structure around 883. An 80% result is their true 100%, and that extra 20% they just gobble right up in profit. Each multiplier only get's you about $133.3 more in pay for that amount of work. Weigh the options of the work you do as companies are famous to be greedy. No need to shoot for a 1.3 when 80% is all that is required.
