Quote from the article below. I think they've gotten so used to laying off people that they DO take all these things lightly. I've yet to see someone targeted offered reskilling to stay.
Reducing our workforce is a difficult decision that we don’t take lightly. We make every effort to do this through attrition, voluntary departures, and reskilling efforts, but there are times like this when additional reductions are necessary. For eligible employees affected by these changes, we will provide severance pay, benefits and outplacement services.

All the work is sent to overseas non English speakers.
Good start.
@cy:
“Any Wire techs getting laid off or just office people?”
None this go around but it shouldn’t be long before long wire techs get the axe as T loves paying almost double for Digital Techs to do your job.
52 years is way too long.
“Very sad. I am part of this layoff. After 52 years with the company.”
You aren’t kidding. This is one of the saddest things I have ever read. Is the 5 a typo?
Handful maybe

"The notice did not list which stores in Huntsville would be losing employees..."
Man, that news station did just the bare minimum, didn't they? That's because it's not retail. It's a collections group handling federal contracts. (Under JVB)
“ After 52 years with the company”
Congrats on retirement…that half century + is a testament to fortitude & resilience.
Very sad. I am part of this layoff. After 52 years with the company I am done just like that. Going to take my $175k severance and enjoy retirement.
This surplus was announced by the company on Jun 13 for the 3rd qtr D3 layoff, the 73 are the majority of the 133 employees in total surplussed.
Why in the world is T still in Alabama. Employees should already be in Atlanta or Dalladnat this point.
Right sizing the company
