Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Enhanced severance

The company has been offering enhanced severance to various titles to incentivize the 65+ crowd who want to leave or near retirement and those who want to move on. The workforce is being reduced for various reasons including, AI, software and copper to fiber network/transport network which requires less employees. If one has 25+ years service, it works out to nearly 1 year base salary minus taxes.

Lucky ba----ds if @b2+1jy7rgmzm is correct. I'd jump on this offer so fast, you have no idea.

@en

Please don’t let facts destroy a company sycophants narrative. They come from the CNN/WPO/CBS/NPR/NYT/MSNBC/ETC.. school of propaganda.

Time for a sycophant layoff and remove the cancer.

@ah how does one fact check these claims? Do you have to be over 65, or just 25+ yrs service

Not much to fact check. Only needed to be a bargained for employee (union) that was on the huddle call last Friday.
No age requirement, just a desire to separate from the company by a certain date with an enhanced severance package.
Let me tell you, the desire is strong.

For all you naysayers, haters are going to hate

I’m the OP that posted this in another thread and it is not false, they did offer 4 wall ET’s and DEG DT’s in CWA D3 SE for the 2nd qtr. of this year. There is a signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the company and the union, easy to find on some local websites or Facebook pages. The $ amount was off the SIPP payment table based on years of service plus, an extra $50K added on top. I chose 25 years because it’s around the avg. years of service for the majority of core techs. I would post the Memo but they asked us not to post it so I won’t.

You could have as little as 1 year of service and take it. Though it would be $1000 or less based off the Sipp payment table plus the extra 50k for a total of 51k. There isn’t anyone in the core titles offered with that low of seniority, lowest is probably 10 years, were former Wire Techs that transferred in open vacancies.

I had techs (both ET&DT) in my org accept it this month. I had other friends take the same offer back in 2020 in a different org TFS (I&M) for titles of FT & ST. This year - 2025 the company offered System Techs the same deal in the first quarter. Not enough took it so there was a surplus. I’ve seen several other post on here offering basically the same MOA in various CWA districts for different titles.

I am guessing whatever we are talking about is for bargained for.

There is no "enhanced severance" for Management.

I guess you missed the offer that was announced last Friday in Texas. Voluntary severance, one year pay PLUS $50k.
