@154 let's just say I go out leave of any kind, FMLA .. will this help? What's the threshold for sale rev % for a given month. This month Ill finish at 75 percent to plan... Do I get PIP
PIP process in VZ in many ways a slow death sentence. You cannot apply out if you are on PIP. If PIP, it can lead to Development rating meaning you can miss out on BPI and STI. If you are in a sales capacity, do your best to improve at the "verbal" document stage. Make sure your manager sets attainable goals and have it on paper. For example, if you haven't hit target in 60 days and trending 50pct, pretty sure you are not going to hit target at 90pct. Work a plan on paper get to 75-90-100. But you have to hit it. Process is usually like this. Verbal "written". Written, Written, Final warning, terminate. It can be 5-6 months of complete he-l and stress as they will micromanage you like no other. They hope you cave with the stress and quit. But if you are thick skinned, it can be 6 months. In business sales, I have seen someone miss quota and PIP for 9 straight months. Paperwork on both side needs to be crisp. But let's say you get out of PIP, probably won't be getting a raise and still can't apply out because most likely with get a bad rating for the year. It can be a two year horror show with set backs.
Honest conversation OP, your managers either have or haven’t had several conversations with you leading up to this point about the potential situation. Not my business, however, I do have a question for you. What do you like about your job? Assuming you don’t like the sales part, do you really think Verizon is the best job for you? If I were you, I’d focus on being the best parent you can be right now. Take the time off that you deserve and look into new opportunities. Find a new job. I’m not trying to be harsh, but your eyes will open more and your perspective will change bringing a new life into the world. The last thing you will want after your summer vacation is the stress and headache of coming back to the pip process. I don’t know you but I do know you deserve to be happy at work- really consider seeing what’s out there, for you and for your family. Be well and congratulations to you.
It appears there's a company-wide initiative to place employees on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). Regarding the recent post by @b9+1jydptsgv, it's important not to overinterpret its meaning. There's a prevailing belief within the company that individuals on PIPs can achieve better performance, and this strategy is currently being implemented.
What happens if I go out on Maternity leave in the middle of a month?
Basically it goes as follows...
Verbal 30-60 days of su-king
Written you su-ked for 60 days
Final you really su-ked for 90 days
Fired around 90-100 days... could happen faster or slower. Also even if get off it you'll be immediately eligible to be put back on where you left off at inside of 12 months if you su-k again.
People have survived it and are still here... most quit before getting fired. Honestly you have to su-k a lot or be unlucky to end up on one, just saying. Work with a manager that believes in you and different yourself out if possible. The job market is awful, and if you're on a pip that probably won't help your interview game either.
ANYWHERE this PIP system is used, it is a precursor to firing. It provides an insurance to the company in the event of any accusations of unfairness or bias. It's "look, we tried to help but they just failed to meet the metrics we specifically defined for them."
If you're on a PIP, start sending out your resumes. You're either a genuinely sh---y employee and you're going to get canned, or you're just inconvenient/uncomfortable for them and you're going to get canned, or you're just going to get canned and they don't want to pay severance.
